[...] November 4th, 2007 · No Comments went to the first nite of the 2007 jezebel music singer-songwriter contest last night. it was really fun. love to see the creativity and love in action. all kinds of people with all kinds of dreams, and hurts, and talents. all in a safe place where it’s not about selling and being and being aggressive − it’s about the music. the turnout was very strong and the 3 winners, well … one of the 3 seemed pretty talented. his song was “heather” … it’s a good song and the dude himself had a real stage presence … a sort of jack white/edward scissorhands vibe. my favorite did not make it into the final three. her name is erin barra and she sang a really beautiful song “room to grow” that i could relate to. plus she has a good voice − white girl got soul. anyways, i’ll be following the contest throughout the week. if you’re a new yorker and are interested in live music, you should come check it out!
