creation.jpgNo effort is actually involved in creation. With no effort, the child at play creates worlds to inhabit. Creation is free. Only when we arrive at higher, mature forms of life, such as adult humans, do we see that this free ticket is lost and charges for everything start accruing. We then tend to make an effort of everything, perhaps as a means of establishing self-importance or giving meaning. This peculiar human compulsion taking the form of a search for meaning or the desire to be important arises from a notion that we are unworthy of such a grand event as this life, a peculiar pathology that seized us somewhere along the line of ancient history and wrecked our play. We even act as though we’re not supposed to be here at all and must somehow justify our existence or buy our way with blood, sweat, and tears.
