highway to ellen!

we totally entered the GMC “highway to ellen” contest. christy wrote the letter and i did the slideshow. check it out:

Celebrating 15 Years of Friendship

We hailed from across the country – Los Angeles, New Jersey, Chicago, & Minneapolis. We brought with us varied backgrounds, interests and experiences. But in August of 1993, when we met in the dormitory of Marion Burke Knott Hall we discovered that we four, very different young women, had something incredible in common. We shared a passion for wacky costumes and cunning pranks!

We remember our four years in college more for our clever escapades than for our studies. With the Sally Jessie Raphael Show on in the background, we spent our mornings scheming about our next great costume or antic. It’s hard to pick a favorite. We were certainly proud of winning the first annual Howard Hall Lip synching contest in 1994 with our oh so original performance of Parliament’s “Give Up the Funk.” Or perhaps it was when Colleen dressed up as an older woman and attempted to buy us alcohol before we were 21 (she failed.) Or maybe when we all pitched in to buy Beth a Glamour Shot makeover. And we’ll never forget the prank of impersonating the Student Affairs Office and calling an unsuspecting classmate to inform him of a housing reassignment that would relocate him to the other end of campus (it was harmless … and we still have the audio!).

Our antics took on the road too. We drove half way across the country in Colleen’s beat up Ford Probe (which, by the way, was missing a rear view mirror) to attend a taping of the Richard Bey Show – all the while donning costumes, of course (and we have the VHS video of this as well). We’ve road-tripped to Chicago to see Jerry Springer, to Florida for spring break, and to Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve.

And now, 15 years later, we’re separated by geography once again. We’re each living in different states ─ New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, IL and Minneapolis, MN. We have busy lives as executives, consultants, policy makers and moms.

But not everything has changed. We still share an appreciation for a funny wig, a good costume and a clever prank. And now instead of Sally Jessie, our TVs are set for the Ellen DeGeneres Show. We TiVo the show every day and love to talk about Ellen’s crazy antics & discoveries (why didn’t we think of the marshmallow game??).

Ellen, we’re your road trip crew. We promise fun, lots of laughs, and perhaps a wig or two along the way.

Sincerely,

Christy, Colleen, Beth & Erin

1993-1996 residents of Notre Dame’s Marion Burke Knott Hall
PS: as you will see in the photos, we also love to dance!!!!
