i think ms. jong is talking about intimacy.
friendship, the deep kind … with or without sex/domestic partnership.
valuable relationships involve risk … allowing yourself to be vulnerable, revealing all your parts — even the ugly ones. being honest with yourself and then letting someone else see it. it’s not easy.
