brooklyn museum: who shot rock & roll

by colleen on January 30, 2010

made it under the wire to the who shot rock & roll photography show at the brooklyn museum today (last weekend of the exhibition).  we were warned in advance about the crowds, and heeded friends’ advice to get there there right when the museum opens. the other night a photographer friend said that it would probably be passe … that all those pictures and photographers were already well known. perhaps, but i am just a regular cookie and i’m still interested. it was neat. i got to read unknown to me interesting stories that correspond to various iconic photos and album covers. there was also some fabulous people (especially kid) watching. my favorite item, i think, was the picture of jimi hendrix in a tux backing up wilson pickett at a show in harlem circa 1966.
