Guest Blog #2: So Far, So Good

crust-300x225It’s been about a month since I declared 2010 the year to get myself back into shape (The Year of Christy), and things are going pretty well so far. I achieved both of my personal goals for January:
#1 – Dedicate time 5 days/week to working out; and
#2 –Run 3 consecutive miles with (relative) ease.

Done and done. And I’m even up to 4 miles some days.

My weekly schedule consists of running 3 days/week (at least 3 miles each time) and lifting weights 2 days/week. All of this is done each afternoon while my two children are in “lockdown”– Charlie napping and Maggie playing in her room. So far, so good.

Most noteworthy since my 1st blog was Col’s discovery that there is, in fact, no Twin Cities half-marathon in October. Oops. Slight oversight on my part. There is a 10 mile race but I’m told it’s really hard to get in to. So we’ll have to keep you posted on what race we end up doing. TBD.

In the short-term, I am signed up for a 12K (7.5 miles) in May. And my goal for February is to get up to 5 miles at least a few times. Everything I’m doing right now is on a treadmill – it’s February in Minnesota and I’m just plain not going outside yet. I’ll start outside in March.

Also noteworthy since my last update:
– Our house is for sale again
- My daughter can zip up her own jacket
- My son can give us high 5s
- Millionaire Matchmaker is back on and a new season of 16 and Pregnant is starting soon!
