christy, also known as crusty, or more affectionately, crust, wrote a compelling guest blog post a coupla weeks ago that went virtually unnoticed. or at least no one commented. not even me ; ( bad col.
in the post, crust detailed how she had successfully stuck to her new year’s plan to get back in shape. one thing you should know about christy: she is a planner with an exasperating level of discipline. in college, she always finished her papers and projects with time to spare after diligently parceling out the workload over the course of the semester. every other roommate in our house of six women, and most college students i have ever known, ended up furiously finishing major efforts at the last minute. on many occasions we would team up to help each other print, proofread and run pages down the hall (and ultimately out the door) to be delivered at the very last possible second (yes, before email was a given. i am old). not crust. it irritated the rest of us. but we respected her M.O.
so, as crust explained, our plan to run the minne 1/2 together in the fall has been foiled because there is no minne half. what to do now? i don’t know, but i do know that crusty is one to watch.

The passion of the crust. I love it. I did read her guest blog about the working out 5 days a week, etc. and I did not comment. Could it be that I am jealous of her discipline? Perhaps. Or maybe I just forgot. Anyways, there is a half marathon in Chicago aug 1 – might be my last weekend in town http://chicago.competitor.com/ OR there is one in Atlanta in November http://www.halfmarathons.net/usa_half_marathons_georgia_atlanta_half_marathon.html
Think about it!!!
BTW, I accidentally typed in Marathong when googling half marathons and the results were pretty hilarious.
My lack of acknowledgement regarding Crusty’s guest blog entry may, at first and to a casual observer, seem callous or uncaring. But I submit that it is neither. Nor is it an indication of my general affection for Crusty, which is quite strong. No, it is simply reflective of my general apathy towards Col’s right-wing, tea party supported blog. The truth is I didn’t see Crusty’s blog entry until now, because I stopped reading Col’s blog after her infamous March 2, 2009 entry “38 Reasons Glenn Beck Is NOT A Douche” (reason 26: someone so cute just HAS to be right!). This followed her February 26, 2009 entry “You Know Who Listens To Great Music? ME!”, where she extolled the many purported virtues of Engelbert Humperdinck and Cisco (“a man with hair that cute just HAS to be good!”). Interestingly, Col has removed both of these blogs from her archives, a clear indictment of their offensiveness.
So, Crusty, my apologies for not saluting your impressive start to the year and for wishing you continued success. And, now, I await your apology for forcing me to return to this godforsaken blog. (I also encourage Col to find more ways to indicate emphasis in her entries beyond her incessant use of capital letters. I cite her October 2, 2008 entry, “Is It Just Me, Or Is Matthew McConnaughey THE BEST ACTOR EVER?”…also notably removed from her archives.)
Beeth … Let me run your Marathong tha thong thong thoooong. ATL in November sounds very plausible. Am gonna check out the registration. Crunk!
Steve/Baddy… I suppose you will forever brand me as a wingnut given certain political inclinations in our youth. And by that rationale you will forever be a TGIFriday’s sever who reads his bitter housemate’s diary and gives nonsensical answers to unsuspecting strangers. Glen Beck? give me some credit. Now if it’s the Glen Beck 3000 … THEN WE CAN TALK.
