a year ago today we buried my dad. to commemorate, we had a family party today at my mom’s house. dad would have LOVED it. his surrogate brother and sisters and their families were here. brothers, sisters, children, godchildren, grandchildren …. all were in tow. cousins i once babysat– now i am playing with their kids. wacky. my mom did the coolest thing. she had little satchels made out of my dad’s favorite ties, gave one to each cousin and kid with a memento inside — my dad’s celtic cross, his claddagh ring, his favorite tie tacks and cufflinks. my brothers got his old baseball cards (ted williams, etc.). it was just so fun and cool. andy’s legacy lives on.
