STONYBROOK, the town pool in hillsdale, NJ, held so many memories for us. learning to swim… from the kiddie pool to the regular pool to the diving pool. where i met my very best childhood friend when we were still in diapers. the swings, the sandbox, the playground. tennis courts, birthday parties on the picnic tables, the snack bar and its delicious treats (including Buffalo O’Bill and Fat Frog … both included gum!). stepping on bees and having to hop on one foot to the first aid stand in the office. adult swim. the time my brother brian’s best friend kevin jackson fell off the high dive and broke his collarbone, wrist and got 16 stitches. the damp and creepy restrooms. how when it was time to go, we’d reluctantly help Mom carry chairs, wet towels and coolers back to the car, running to it and calling ”shotgun.” the searing heat on the station wagon’s brown vinyl seats. the days there were long, fun, magical. here is my Stonybrook ID card from the Summer of 1984 which we had to show to a teenager checking it at the gate.

Oh, those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer.
Random recollections: adult swim, fantasy island,Pepsi lite cooler, shark in the baby pool, chatting w/mrs. Purcell sitting in our spot along the fence, baby Kev sleeping in his stroller.
Summertime has a way of bringing back the memories of times past. Thanks for stirring them up. Love you.
I was so pissed when we moved to 6 Douglas with that beautiful pool. I saw it only as an obstacle to returning to SBSC. Little did I know I’d return as an employee just a few years later.
