just saw bill hader , of SNL and superbad fame, on hudson st. second time i saw him in the nabe. he had a sour look on his face. maybe he was irritated that the chick at the duane reade checkout denied eye contact (i understand this move, BTW. you’re exhausted, you’re tired of seeing these rich west village mugs dropping crazy cash like it’s nothing — you don’t want to look them/me in the eye — i get it.) who knows exactly what made hader a hata in that moment but i sort of expected it. he is very talented and all that … supper funny but with his precise features he has the look of a really smart literary dude who’s prickly, sour and brooding. like he might have been a nation intern at one point. alas, he also has crazy fun eyes that are almost cross eyed so perhaps that cancels it out. regardless, he did a good thing by using his brain and wit for good (comedy) rather than bullshit academics and other “serious” pursuits. hada might have been a hata on hudson tonight but i’m still hollarin’ at him! (sorry bad inside joke. one time a pal was going through a mc donald’s drive thru and the dude said, “you fine girl. you got a boyfriend?” she said yes. he was like: “damn. well can i still holla at you?”)

gals game over 2nite. i cooked, made fancy mixers (pat self on back). we tried to go to the rusty knot 4 a nitecap b4 they headed home … it was totes crowded. did not want to wait outside on the west side highway in the blustering cold. we walked back up 11th street towards the good ‘ol reliable, ableit crowded, piggy. saw matt dillon walking in with two other dudes. what a cutie. we lost track of him once we got inside. but it was a nice glimmer of that handsome mug.

CLAY GAYKEN, i mean aiken playing sir robin in spamalot. took ma for her birthday present. the show was hilarious and fun. really really loved it. am not a huge idol fan and don’t know that much about clay other than what i’ve heard kathy griffin say in her standup. clay had his own little cheering section and definitely got the most applause.
after the show we headed back downtown to dine in the nabe. we saw HARVEY WEINSTEIN talking on his cell phone whilst getting out of a car in front of the waverly inn.
all in a day’s gawk.

weekend in review
January 7, 2008 · 8 Comments
thanks for the impassioned response to my embarrassing high school picture. for the record, i wasn’t all preppy, all the time. i also rocked the guidette look** quite a bit as evidenced below (another gem from the 1993 edition of the pascack valley warrior):

** i am from jersey, after all.
a few exciting things from this weekend that i care to share:
1. gawker.col: i saw saw SETH MEYERS and bill hader (i think) on bleecker street. i slowed down and pretended to look at books on the table in front of the bookstore on the corner. i didn’t have the balls to say anything to them. i should have asked seth what’s going on with the strike. after they walked by, i stopped pretending to read and followed them from about 50 feet behind for one block. i’m a chump.
2. i saw “there will be blood.” it rocked. daniel day lewis = haunting. musical score = brill. story = exciting, fascinating and very applicable to current day — the land-grab situation that is the Web, the extremes of capitalism and religion.
3. finally went to the new apple store in the nabe. i was with a dude so i didn’t pick up any cute guys. but i did run into my cousin carmen and her friend jenny, which was fun. i will have to go back soon, looking fly and flying solo so i can kick it to some hot nerdlingers.
4. i played a lot of mario this weekend. and here i give you mario awsome:

Fuckin a man. Went out hard last nite — nite ended at 4 a.m. at sing sing … As so many good nites do. Wasn’t suppossed to go that way. We were just gonna get “one more drink…” And then the boys showed up.
and now I’m on the LIRR — a 2-hr train ride to montaulk for a baby shower. Why do I do it to myself?
Gawker.col update: Josh Hartnet and Giselle MACKING at the spotted pig last nite.

i made eye contact with malcolm gladwell on hudson street yesterday. he was in tennis whites, his fro a-flapping. i looked at him like: hey, don’t i know you? and he looked at me the same, or so i thought. which is weird because he doesn’t know me at all. (right now i am thinking of christopher guest and martin short in that SNL skit, men’s synchronized swimming … “I know you, I know you.”)
